Description of the campsite

And it gets better. A little further down is the Gasselterveld: a clear blue lake with white sandy beaches that is almost tropical. A place where, after a walk through the forest, you can dive into the water. This campsite is ideal for those who like to be outdoors: hikers, cyclists, nature lovers and families looking for space.
Camping in the middle of the green
The Horstmannsbos offers plenty of space for both campers and guests looking for a bit more comfort. The pitches are on green fields between the trees, making you always feel like staying in the middle of nature. You can stay here at:
- spacious pitches with different comfort levels
- safari tents for a glamping experience
- fully equipped chalets and mobile homes
- simple hiking huts for hikers and cyclists
- For those who want to stay longer, seasonal places are also available.
Children here have plenty of room to play and go on adventure. Several playgrounds and sports fields are scattered around the campsite. On the campsite you will find:

- During the summer holidays, the entertainment team organises activities in which nature and outdoor play are central.
Although the campsite does not have its own swimming pool, the popular Gasselterveld is a short distance away. This former sand excavation lake is known for its clear blue water and wide sandy beaches A wonderful place to swim and relax.
Eating together in the bistro
After a day outside you can join Bistro The Horstmannsbos, where simple and cozy dishes are on the menu. On the terrace you can enjoy a drink while the day slowly turns into the evening. For a quick snack there is a snack service and in the morning you can order fresh bread for a relaxing breakfast.
Explore Drenthe
The surroundings of Gasselte are known for its vast nature, quiet forests and ancient history. It is a region that is perfect for long cycling and hiking.

route- Car: Access via the A28 motorway (Utrecht-Groningen) in the direction of Assen, then via the N33 and N34 national roads that flow through the bucolic landscapes of heathers and forests from the province of Drenthe to the village.
- Aircraft: Groningen Eelde Airport (GRQ) is the nearest airport (about 25 minutes away) for regional connections. For international flights, Amsterdam Schiphol Airport (AMS) is about 2 hours' drive or train ride.
- Train: Train connection to Assen or Groningen station, followed by a connection via the regional bus services (Qbuzz) which directly serve the centre of Gasselte and the leisure areas.
