For those looking for a slightly faster pace, head to the vibrant and exciting cities of Rennes, Brest or Nantes. There’s some excellent shopping, superb little restaurants and plenty of fun for the kids. Stop by the Océanopolis, marine wildlife aquarium, in Brest or the amazing museum of robots in Nantes.

Learn to surf in St Malo. Canoe along the River Elle. Go sand yachting in Kernic Bay or snorkeling in Plouguerneau. Looking for real thrills? From Rennes to Locunolé and Carantec

Brittany has a long, rich history and has plenty to offer culturally. Quimper, the oldest town in Brittany, is famed for its the Festival de Cornouaille, a celebration of Breton music and traditions in July.  Rennes, the capital, hosts the famous Fort la Latte, built in the 13th century.  Carnac is said to be the oldest continuously inhabited settlement in Europe and fans of ancient monuments should visit Carantec, home to Europe’s oldest and largest Megalithic mausoleum, the Cairn of Barnenez. Nature is at its best in Brittany and there’s a treat around every corner for Eco-lovers. The pink granite coast at Pointe du Raz is a joy to behold and bird watchers can hike up the heather flanked trail to the top of the colourful bird sanctuary at Cap Fréhel.

Daredevils can get their thrills at the Adrenaline Forest, in the Parc de Gayuelles in Rennes. This amazing tree top adventure park has 8 routes designed for different age groups, with monkey bridges, barrels, swing ropes and zip wires. The Zoo de Trégomeur is always a hit, with its big cats, camels, flamingos, gibbons and red pandas.
