The oldest wine region in the world is that of port wine on the banks of the Douro, recognised as far back as 1756.The recently modernised Douro wines have built up an impressive reputation, mainly for red grape varieties like Tina Roriz or Touriga Nacional. The Douro valley is a UNESCO site and can be visited by car, train or boat.
Port is not the only type of wine here, there are several others to discover too.
