For a more romantic ambiance go to the secluded bays of Lake Millstätter See.  Hikers climb the popular Sentiero dell’Amore’  (way of love) near Alexanderhütte. Windsurfers and paragliders head to the watersports paradise of Lake Ossiacher See, which is right by the campsite.  For a real tranquil experience visit Lake Weissensee and its picturesque nature park. For a truly special experience go to The Nockberge Biosphere Reserve, Europe’s only high mountain park and the largest pine forest in the Alps.                       The delightful Klagenfurt is the capital of Carinthia and is a lively and vibrant town located on the shores of Lake Wörthersee, not far from your campsite. Stroll through the ancient Alter Platz and then sit down by one of the many excellent lakeside restaurants for a marvelous lunch. Feel like being pampered? Then visit Villach and treat yourself to a lazy afternoon in the lovely thermal baths. This marvelous town is known as the gateway to the lakes! For a little history and culture head for the magnificent medieval town of Wolfsberg to admire the impressive St Mark’s Church and the wonderful neo-Gothic Tudor style Wolfsberg Castle. The view from the terrace is simply breathtaking. Fancy a trip to Slovenia? This fascinating country borders Carinthia and is just 45km away from Ossiach. Drive through the wonderful Triglav National Park to the towns of Jesenice or the marvelous Bled, famous for its bewitchingly beautiful lake.

Slightly further afield (22km) is the wonderful 12th century Augustinian monastery of Klosterneuburg , with majestic views across the river. Fancy seeing the magical castle that inspired the fairytale of Snow White and the Seven Dwarves? Then go to Hochosterwitz castle in Launsdorf. For a little culture and history in Carinthia visit the pretty medieval towns of Friesach or Gmünd . Fan of fast cars? Then visit the "Ferdinand Porsche Auto museum" in Karnerau just outside of Gmünd.  Want breathtakingly beautiful scenery of the Austrian Alps and Lake Wörthersee?
