Frequently asked questions

  • Is there a difference between booking on the internet and booking by telephone?

Basically, no as the price will remain the same. However, if you have any questions about things you cannot find on the internet site, you can always contact one of our operators. You can only place an option on a booking by telephone.

  • Can I change my booking?

Yes, you can make changes to your reservation. If your dates and ferry crossing remain the same you can change your original campsite to another campsite free of charge until 1 March 2012 (depending on availability). You can only change campsites by speaking to one of our operators. Any extra costs (if any) will be discussed with you before any changes are made.

  • Can I make an option when booking on the internet?

No, you can only request an option by telephone.

  • How is the price calculated?

The price panel at the bottom of the campsite page shows the prices per party for 7 nights which includes a short mid-week ferry crossing for 1 car plus 6 people. Additional nights are then multiplied by the nightly price in the relevant date band. If you decide not to take a ferry crossing with us, £90 will be deducted off the cost of the holiday. In low season there are often special discounts such as 14 nights for the price of 10 and 7 nights for the price of 6 for a stay completed before 04/07 or started after 22/08. However, if your stay covers several price brands, the cheapest nightly price will count as the free nights. When making a pitch reservation please be aware the given price is per night and includes electricity, 2 adults, with space for a car and your own tent or caravan. For extra adults and children we add the cost onto the base price and then multiply by the number of nights you're going to stay at the campsite. There is no ferry crossing included in this price but Vacansoleil can give you a quote and book this for you.

For example, if you take your family on a 14 night holiday to the campsite "Le California" in St. Jean de Monts (see page 96) and stay in a Bali mobile home from 20 June till 4 July the cost would be:

First 7 nights including a Dover to Calais Ferry      £ 438
    7 nights at £ 39 per night      £ 273
    Less free nights (14=7) 7 x £ 34      £ 238 -/-
    -------------------------------------------------------------- -----------
Total cost of holiday      £ 473
  • I've won a Vacansoleil travel cheque. Can I use this cheque when booking on the internet?

No, if you have won a cheque you can only use it when booking by telephone.

  • Can I use my travel cheque for any date period at any of the campsites in the Vacansoleil brochure?

No, you can only book a holiday in low season during April, May, June and September. You can choose from a large number of selected campsites. This list is available on our website under Top Selection.

Click here for the Top Selection list.

  • Can I use my travel cheque as payment on different types of accommodation or on more than one holiday

Yes, you can. We can book upto three campsites on one booking. If you do not use the full value of your travel cheque you can use this at another time under the same terms and conditions. Although the full value of the cheque must be used before it becomes invalid. We will send you an e-mail confirmation of any outstanding amount.

  • Can I make a group reservation?

On our website you can reserve up to 5 units of accommodation for the same period at the same campsite (subject to availability). However if your party requires more than 5 units you will have to contact one of our travel consultants.

  • Do all the mobile homes have a wooden veranda or terrace?

Vacansoleil mobile homes normally have a terrace or a wooden veranda. A terrace is at ground level and can be made up of different materials, for example wood or pavers. A wooden veranda is always elevated. All Tahiti 1 mobile homes have a covered wooden veranda. Vacansoleil is providing an increasing number of mobile homes with wooden verandas. Sometimes a mobile home may not have a terrace or wooden veranda. In these cases garden furniture is placed in front of the mobile home. You can see full details of accommodation above the price panel at the bottom of the campsite page, although you can always ask one of our operators for advice.

  • How long will it take to get to my chosen campsite?

On each campsite page we have indicated how far the campsite is situated from Calais. However, when arriving at a different ferry port or flying our operators can help with distances and driving times.

  • Can I fly to my destination and rent a car?

We cannot book your flights for you but we have a link on our website where you can book flights with low cost airlines. We offer car rental and vehicles can be collected from any airport. Once you know your arrival dates and the dates and times of your flights call us and we will give you a price for the size of car you require to suit your budget and the size of your party. Alternatively you can get a quote for car hire on our website. Even better, we will deduct £90 off the cost of your holiday if no ferry is required.

Click here for all information about flights and here for car hire.

  • Where is the accommodation situated on the campsites?

We look for the best locations at the campsites. When making a reservation you can sometimes ask for a preference to be placed in a specific spot. Each preference costs £3.50.

  • How old is your accommodation?

Vacansoleil accommodation is no more than 5 years old. Our campsite managers ensure that all accommodation is in perfect condition.

  • Can I reserve a baby pack on my booking?

You can reserve a baby pack with your booking if your chosen campsite bears the dummy pictogram. The pack consists of a cot, a baby bath and a highchair. It costs £3.20 per night. There is no blanket with the cot so you will have to provide this yourself.

  • Can I bring a pet? If yes, can I bring more than one?

In the special remarks section on the campsite pages it will state if pets are allowed or not and any extra charge if applicable. However, pets are not permitted to stay in Vacansoleil tents. If you would like to bring more than one pet with you, it would be advisable to contact one of our operators. Please see our website for further details.

  • If I pay for a preference is it guaranteed?

No, a preference is only a preference and not a guarantee. We will pass this preference to the campsite who will do their best to meet your requirements. You should remember a preference will not provide you with any rights.

  • Why are there charges for a preference?

    This is an administration fee.

  • Are some campsites suitable for disabled people?

Yes, these campsites have the wheelchair pictogram which can be found on several campsite pages. Campsites with a difference in altitude will not have a pictogram on their campsite page. Please be aware that many mobile homes are not suitable for wheelchair users but tents will be ideal.

  • Are groups of young people travelling alone accepted on your campsites?

Most campsites will not allow this as the majority cater for families. To avoid any problems on arrival at a campsite it is advisable to contact one of our travel consultants before booking.

  • What is a Soleil Cheque and can I reserve a pitch at a campsite in advance using this cheque?

The Soleil Cheque can be used to pay for one night's stay on a pitch for two people, a car and your own tent or caravan, including the use of electricity. These cheques can only be used in low season. They cost £9.00 each and there will be a £3.20 administration fee which will include any postage. However, it is not possible to reserve a campsite in advance if you are planning to pay with Soleil Cheques.

  • Can I book theme park tickets with Vacansoleil?

Yes you can. You can order tickets for Disneyland® Resort Paris, Parc Astérix and Plopsaland with us and these will be sent with your ticket pack.

  • Can I take out a cancellation insurance policy with Vacansoleil?

Cover for cancellation is included in your personal travel insurance package. It is provided by Fogg Travel Insurance (Fogg) who have over 25 years expertise in travel insurance. Every experienced traveller knows how important it is to take out cancellation cover for their holiday. People who make last minute bookings tend not to bother but the insurance covers any unused days of your holiday should you have to cancel mid-stay. So it is highly advisable to take out insurance in case of unforeseen events. When you take out a personal insurance package with Vacansoleil this will include cancellation and curtailment costs. You will be protected if you have to cut short or cancel your holiday for any valid reason.

  • How will I find my way around the local area?
