Camping Turiscampo, Lagos

A well maintained Portuguese campsite located close to the coast and the pleasant beach of Luz, which is only 2.5 kilometres away. Camping Turiscampo is situated just north of the road that runs from Lagos to Ponta de Sagres. The campsite is on generally level ground but has some terraced levels.

• The recently built 'Californian' pool complex is fantastic. It is overlooked by a a terrace with sun loungers. Enjoy a spot of sunbathing or relax under the shade of the bamboo parasols.

The surrounding area of camping Turiscampo, Lagos

The campsite is located around four kilometres from Lagos, the city of the great Portuguese discoverers. Lagos was originally the capital of the former independent state of Algrave in the 15th century and it was from here that the explorers started their voyages. The well-known south west cape of Portugal is called Cabo de Sao Vicente and is 20km from the campsite. This was the last the explorers saw of their homeland for a long time. Today it's part of a protected nature reserve.

• Visit the old fortress near Sagres which features a mysterious 39m-diameter wind compass called the 'Wind Rose'.
• On the other side of Lagos you'll find the historic town of Portimão. It offers many kilometres of long sandy beaches and has a variety of restaurants and bars.
