The Adriatic sea boasts plenty of lagoons and isles between Venice and Trieste. On one of these isles you'll find the town of Grado and its historic centre has a lovely church and beautiful Byzantine mosaics from the 6th century. The island is connected to the mainland by two bridges. The Grado beaches face the bay of Trieste and on the other side of the gulf is Trieste.
