The city of Nürnberg is almost 1000 years old and is well- known as the 'city of toys'. The international toy fair of 'Spielwarenmesse' is held here each year and the toy museum is a must for children and adults alike. There are also far more toy shops than in other cities. Although the city lost most of its medieval centre during the war, there's still an old part and a wide city wall with 80 towers.

• When you stop for a beer try a 'Nürnberger Rosbratwürstchen', a small sausage which is one of the city's specialities. It's only 6cm long but very tasty!
