Campsite Le Mas, La Couronne / Martigues

From the pleasant terrace of camping Le Mas you have a fantastic view of the Mediterranean Sea. The campsite is just a short walk from a romantic beach surrounded by beautiful rock formations. This beach is situated below the campsite and can be easily reached by following a footpath and steps down from the campsite reception. On site there is a lovely swimming pool, small shop and excellent restaurant. A typical Provençal campsite, in a beautiful setting on the Côte d'Azur.

Just outside the hustle and bustle of Marseilles, on the Chaîne de l'Estaque, lies the town of Martigues. A pleasant town situated between the sea and the Étang de Berre, one of the inland lakes to the east of the Camargue. Martigues is full of pretty streets with pleasant restaurants and bistros, and is well worth a visit. Another place that comes highly recommended is Les-Baux-de-Provence situated on a 245m high rock, giving excellent views of the surrounding landscape, including the white mountains of the Alpilles. The ancient city of Arles is a short drive away, as is St Remy de Provence, once home to Vincent Van Gogh. To really indulge yourself culturally, take a visit to the old cities of Nîmes and Avignon. For the more sporty among you, why not try horse riding in the Camargue, a truly wonderful experience. Snorkelling is also possible in this region, and there are many scenic walking- and cycling routes.
