• The path of the Douaniers is a good idea for a walk along the coast. The Pont du Diable is an oddly shaped rock which has been worn away over the centuries by the pounding of the sea. Even the lighthouses are majestic in this region. Good examples are the Phare de la Coubre and the Phare de Cordouan. Also characteristic of this coast are the colourful fishermens houses on poles, which are called carrelets, from where the fishermen use levers to pull up the nets full of their catch.
