• A walk through the fairytale landscape of Les Monts-Dore can best be started by taking the cable lift. Ski lifts can be seen all over the place, as the French have been coming here for years to enjoy their winter holidays.
• The pleasant town at the foot of the mountain has the same name as the mountain Le Mont-Dore. It's a good spot for shopping and is just a few kilometres from Lake Chambon and the campsite.
• You can try out all sorts of water sports on the lake or just lounge around on the beach or sunbathing lawn. There's also a pleasant restaurant with nice terrace on the banks of the lake.
• The old village of Murol has a pretty mountain brook running though it and is just around the corner.
• Clermont-Ferrand, with its imposing cathedral, is only 30 kilometres away.
