The surrounding area of camping Hampen Sų, Hampen

Years ago the wooded Mid Jylland area used to have wide open moorlands. Shepherds stopped rearing sheep and so the moorland changed and became more of a foreste area. The old moorland lakes of this region are now set in forests. One of the highest lakes is Lake Hampen or, as they say in Denmark, Hampen Sų. However, there are still some parts of the moorland that display their purple bloom to the full in late summer.
